Dewson Schoolyard Project

Dewson Street Junior Public School is fundraising for a 2025 schoolyard renovation. The Dewson Schoolyard Project will create a vibrant green space for active learning and play for Dewson students and all of the surrounding community.

The Problem

The schoolyard has been used so extensively that it now needs a major revitalization. Funds are needed to fix an eroded sports court, replace the playground, improve accessibility, and increase shade coverage, outdoor learning and sensory play areas.

The Solution

Fund a 2025 schoolyard revitalization that creates a more usable, accessible, and vibrant green space for students and the community.

Dewson is asking for donations to fund a beautiful schoolyard renovation. As a TDSB School, Dewson is considered a charity, and all donations to this project will receive charitable donation receipts.

​

As an investor in this schoolyard project, you will directly contribute to the creation of an enhanced outdoor space for 400 elementary students and our surrounding community.

Schoolyard Consultations

Dewson School Council 

​

Dewson School Council is a collective of parents and caregivers who work to support and enhance student learning. Annual community fundraising supports an average of $30,000 in school learning enhancements in areas such as STEM, Arts, Outdoor Learning and Social Justice.

Schoolyard Steering Committee

​

The Steering Committee is composed of school parents/caregivers and the school administration. The committee collects and disseminates schoolyard insights and information from parents and teachers through online surveys, email and website communications and school council meetings.  

 

The Toronto District School Board has agreed to repair the schoolyard to a minimum standard of repair, with the option of enhancements funded from external sources. The Committee has until October 2024 to raise the $100,000 for schoolyard enhancements.
